The Boards of Trustees of New Zealand schools are charged with the governance of their school and are usually elected from and by the community the school serves.
The Board of Trustees of the Southern Regional Health School, by nature of the school's constantly changing community of students and parents, is somewhat different in composition. Members of our Board [with the exception of the Staff Trustee] are appointed, at triennial School Board election time, by the Minister of Education.
Chris Bridges – Chair, a Christchurch Businessman;
Judy Grace Dillon – former teacher from Millers Flat Central Otago now living in Queenstown;
Anne Morgan – Specialist Palliative Care Nurse, Christchurch Hospital;
Murray Strong – Professional Director and former Crown Commissioner, Christchurch;
Anna Tutton – Crown Prosecutor, Christchurch.
These five community representatives are joined by:
Lisa Marriot – Staff Trustee, elected unopposed, Christchurch, and
Chris Parsons – the Principal of the school, Christchurch.
At our Board meeting in Dunedin on Friday 15th May, we farewell our founding Board Chair Kevin Smith. Kevin has made an outstanding contribution to the school and to the education of sick children and young people in the South Island.
His wisdom and foresight have been invaluable in setting an enduring future for the school. His wit, humour, compassion and undoubted ability will be missed.
Thank you Kevin Smith.
The Board meets monthly. These are public meetings the dates of which will be published in advance here.
